Although you may only reach a staffer when you call, those conversations matter. Calls are logged, and the data is compiled, giving representatives a clearer picture of their constituents’ opinions on key issues.

I also discovered a useful resource: an app called 5 Calls (available at 5calls.org). The app provides information on current issues, contact details for your representatives, and even scripts to guide your calls—perfect if you’re unsure what to say.

Making a quick call is one of the most effective ways to engage in democracy. If you care about an issue, take a few minutes to reach out. It really does make a difference.
